Hog peanut is common in deciduous woodlands on dry, well-drained, sand or sandy loam soil. It can be useful in shady plantings where a quick ground cover is needed. Leaflets are in 3's on long, thin, twining stems. It produces small edible tubers that taste like a peanut.
